Description

During the Vietnam War most, but not all, soldiers from the Apostolic Christian Church were drafted and served as noncombatants. Telling the story of these young Apostolic Christian soldiers is what this book is all about. They did not deal with demons of the nature and intensity their parents did; i.e., the Great Depression and World War II. But they did deal with major demons. For the most part they went willingly and served commendably. They did their jobs. Most of them came home and took up productive lives, marrying, and raising their children to be good citizens. Often they faced disparagement for serving in an unpopular war. They may not have been the “greatest generation,” but they were a “great generation.” And, before they are all gone, their stories, most of which have been unspoken for many years, need to be told. 300 pages; includes color photographs and the personal stories of 35 Apostolic Christian veterans who served.
